Portable, folding shower station to accommodate a wheelchair, manufactured in the U.S. by FAWSsit Showers - Super Standard model.
Portable showers are a very economic alternative to remodeling a bathroom if the costs of remodeling are too high or if a wheelchair accessible shower is needed on a short-term basis. They are great for renters, hospice patients, and individuals with almost any type of permanent or temporary disability for whom showering or bathing is no longer safe or even possible.
This Super Standard model is 42 in. wide x 42 in. deep x 48 in. high. It is 6 in. wider and deeper than the Standard model to accommodate a standard sized wheelchair with footrests. It enables the user to either do their own bathing, with the enclosure of a full privacy curtain, or to have the assistance of a care attendant who can reach in without having to get into the shower. The person to be bathed can be rolled into the shower stall with a shower/commode style of wheelchair or even a regular wheelchair. Once inside the shower stall, a front support bar is lowered so that the fourth side of the shower pan can be attached for waste water collection. A front shower curtain may be brought around for the person who is able to do their own bathing, or may be left open for easier caregiver access to assist with the bathing.
The source of water for this shower unit is any standard sink faucet. To manage waste water, there is a pump which pulls the waste water from the drain pan and empties to the sink drain for disposal. The unit requires a GFI plug protects the pump unit in case of any electrical failure. The shower head can be either frame mounted or hand-held to facilitate complete water access for bathing.
Almost as compact as the Standard model, the Super Standard model is an excellent travel shower. It folds flat to less than 8 inches in depth and weighs less than 32 pounds, and it can be easily transported in a vehicle. This portable shower can be easily set up in hotel rooms, eliminating the need to request a special room for shower accessibility. It can also be used outdoors at rest areas, camp sites, or even near a swimming pool.
All FAWSsit portable shower models are shipped fully assembled and include a frame, mounted pump, shower curtain, drain pan, shower head, faucet adapter, mesh storage bags, and hoses.
