The Aging in Place Action Kit

The Aging in Place Action Kit was developed based on research from the HUD Older Adult Home Modification Program of the most-effective items and home modification actions to take to reduce falls and to make mom’s life easier.

Action kit includes:

Detailed instructions on how to place/utilize objects in the box.
Instructions to analyze and take action to make modifications to increase safety, ease of living, and reduce the effects of arthritis.

A Home Mod OT can come to the home to set up the gifts for maximum impact as well as perform a Home Mod OT Design Consultation to help you and your family to develop a staged Aging in Place home modification plan with different price points and levels to support your mom while she ages.

OT INSTRUCTIONS

Home Mod OT instructions/Action to increase safety and convenience for mom: Pick a place just outside a door or a garage, whatever is the safest and easiest way to get into/out of the house and set up a table (at least 30” high) with a sign on it that says please put packages here. This makes life so much easier, no need to bend down to pick up packages off the ground much easier for sore, stiff knees and back and puts packages in a more ergonomically correct position, which also helps to prevent injuries and falls.
